There is a brand new radio station on the horizon. Blues Radio Canada feels that there is some of the finest music being produced & played right now, at this moment. We love our old classics and love going down memory lane, too. Don't get us wrong. But we also know that there is some fantastic brand new music out there and it needs to be heard!

Blues Radio Canada wants to work with you
Johnny Max

Sunday Morning Soul has been established to bring you, the listener, The Finest in brand new Blues, Roots, Soul and R&B!

Sunday Morning Soul brings you that feeling you had when you first started listening to the radio. Remember? Those summer days when you heard a brand new tune and you ran down to Sam's or A&A'sstore to buy the single?

Well you can't really get to the Record Store anymore, although there are a few still around, but you can hear some great brand new music.

You can listen to Sunday Morning Soul, hear these new artists with a sprinkling of the older more established artists, and then run to the digital stores that you use and buy this great music.

Sunday Morning Soul is about that feeling you had as youngster, when music made your day or your week. When you could recite ad nauseum, who played what songs and when it was first aired!

From Local to National to International artists. Sunday Morning Soul plays it all. Because it is all fantastic music and it should be heard by those that want to listen to fantastic, new music

You can listen to Sunday Morning Soul right here

Your Host:

Johnny Max has been involved in the music industry for over 20 years, with stints as a record collector, Karaoke host ( yes, we know but you've gotta make a living), DJ and the last 17 years as lead singer for The Johnny Max Band & The Johnny Max Bigger Band…. He also has some other projects, namely The Heart Attacks, The 7 piece R&B based Regal Blues Band and the 3 lead singer 70’s soul of The Soul Reason Revue, along with Iconic Canadian Jazz band The Jive Bombers. Johnny & his many bands have played all over the country from small bars to some of the finest Blues, Jazz & Roots Festivals across Canada & Europe.

Johnny's love of radio started in grade school(as it always does) listening to Wolfman Jack, David Marsden, Don Daynard,Tom Rivers, Mike Cooper & Roger Ashby to name a few….. Johnny started his own show, as host of Sunday Night Soul on AM1430 and now, playing brand new Blues, Roots, Soul & R&B & "The Best Music You've Never Heard"……..He has now been the host & producer of Sunday Morning Soul for the past 5 years….The show is now syndicated on 12 stations, both terrestrial (On the dial radio) & online commercial radio stations across the country & North America.

Johnny considers himself a bit of a promoter as well, from The Songwriter series "Storytellers Nights" , The Annual Blues Year’s Eve with good friend Chuck Jackson, Canada Day at The Marina, The CNE Bandshell Blues Festival, The Canadian Blues Caravan and has now helped start The Mississauga Blues & Roots Association, which brings touring artists and local artists together in a bigger 250 seat venue

Johnny hosts his "Storytellers shows" which are a Singer/Songwriter Nights which are Organic, Original & Acoustic shows where the some of Canada's finest songwriters come out and tell stories about their songs they wrote, or songs that inspired them to an intimate audience of music lovers. Check www.mississaugabluesandroots.com for more information on where you can find these great music nights.

Sunday Morning Soul has now been on the air for 5 years and Johnny loves bringing Brand New Music to his listeners. Sunday Morning Soul is "Where Good Music Lives!" Introducing our listeners to some fantastic new music & artists in all sorts of genres and still "Playing The Best Music You've Never Heard!"
Johnny has a sense of humour (sometimes only he can figure it out!) & as a much sought after MC , he has shared his humour with audiences around Southern Ontario, Quebec and the rest of Canada, wherever he is on the stage. He brings his knowledge and love of music, camaraderie, humour and presence to the airwaves every Sunday morning.
Music is and will always be the focus of the shows, as it should be.

In radio, this is where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. Blues & Roots music is ever evolving and as such, you have to have new interpretations and that's what we play here on Sunday Morning Soul. This is "Where Good Music Lives!".
